Sea Crest Myrtle Beach
We just left and will not return. We had a suite that was fine, easily the best part of this place. It was big enough for us, clean and had a nice view. Staff was prompt to deal with any issues or items we might need. The onsite store was well-stocked and while we only made a couple of visits to the Malibu Beach Bar, it was fine but not being able to charge drinks to your room was a hassle.
The rest of the place leaves much to be desired. The lack of an onsite restaurant is a glareing ommission. With no decent places in the area on Ocean Blvd., you're left to trek to King's Highway which isn't too far but everyone else from the hotels on the strip is headed there too making for interminable waits at any hour. The area between Ocean Blvd. and King's Hwy. is a very sketchy area, particularly after dark.
The resort advertises nine pools and while this is technically correct, only one of them - the large one out back by the beach - is suitable for adults. The rest are either indoors - not a good option when the weather is nice - or geared to kids. The indoor lazy river and hot tub were absolutely toxic environments during my only vsiit there. I can't even describe the smell emanating from that area. I smelled pot walking by there a few times too.
At this time of year the place was packed which is to expected. But it seemed to be overrun with families with little consideration for other guests: barging into elevators, crashing into the water without looking to see if they would be landing on anyone, treating the lazy river like a roller derby arena, bringing inner tubes and footballs into crowded pools.
if we decide to rteurn to Myrtle Beach we'll do a lot more homework before deciding where to stay.
